Project Description:

Construction of a 500kw run of river small scale hydro with 2 intakes and approximately 3.5 km of buried pipework through agricultural land within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.

Works Included:

  • Construction of 1.5 km of 3.5m wide floating roads consisting of 300mm deep layered system of geotextile membrane and 6F2 mixed with local recycled stone.
  • Widening and upgrade of existing access road
  • Excavation of pipe track and reinstatement
  • Installation of pipe work:
         - 1.7 km 600mm Diameter GRP
         - 1.3 km 630mm Diameter HPPE
         - 500 m 280mm Diameter HPPE
  • 2 reinforced concrete intakes
  • Reinforced concrete thrust blocks, transition and junction blocks to accommodate the change of pipe diameters.
  • Steel framed power house building (9m x 8m) blockwork walls with rendered finish and slate roof
  • 40 tonne capacity steel bridge
  • Reinstatement of traditional dry stone dyke
